Brooklyn Blackmore Releases Her New Single, “Been There Too”

Brooklyn Blackmore has released her new single “Been There Too”.

“Writing “Been There Too” was a huge part of a long healing process for me surrounding my experience with SA. I found solace in songwriting and finally was able to face these scary feelings in a creative way that made me feel safe. I was inspired to write this song to help other survivors feel hopeful in their healing journey by knowing that they are not alone. “

“If you choose to speak up, just know that I believe ya”.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Brooklyn Blackmore and I am a 25-year-old Country-Pop artist from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I’ve been playing music for as long as I remember, starting with fiddle lessons at the age of 4 and loving it ever since. Over the years I picked up piano and guitar and started finding my voice as a singer. I graduated from NSCC Music Arts in 2018 as a vocal major with violin as my secondary, and have been steadily performing around the Maritimes ever since.

I released my first EP Get A Little Crazy back in 2020 and was honoured to have been nominated for awards such as “Country Recording of the Year” and “New Artist Recording of the Year” at ECMA and NSMW. I am currently working on releasing my newest EP which was recorded in Nashville and co-produced by Matt McClure and Aaron Goodvin. You can find the leading singles from this album on any streaming platforms – “Missin’ The Moon”, “Paint The Sky” and “Great Minds Drink Alike”.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My newest single “Been There Too” is easily the most vulnerable song I’ve ever released. Writing this song was a huge part of a long healing process for me surrounding my experience with SA. I found solace in songwriting and finally was able to face these scary feelings in a creative way that made me feel safe.

When I first sat down with my guitar to write, this song poured out of me like I’ve known it my whole life. But it needed something more. I’ll be honest, the first draft was a little too dark. I took these lyrics to my close friend Jordyn Pollard, and together we crafted it into an uplifting song of healing and hope for the future.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

For this particular release, I was heavily inspired by real events from my life. After 2 years of struggling with what had happened to me, I was finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and ready to take my power back. The healing process is definitely a long journey, and I wanted to write this song to help other survivors feel hopeful in theirs by knowing they are not alone.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

Over the summer I will be very busy playing around the Maritimes at local festivals, resorts, and bars! The two shows I’m most excited about are both happening in July – on the 21st I’m opening for Charlie A’Court at Trunk7 Music Festival, and on the 29th I’m opening for Tyler Joe Miller at the Beer, BBQ & Music Fest in Truro! I’m so stoked to take the stage with my full band and showcase all the new music I’ve been working on.

What’s your goal for 2023?

My biggest goal for 2023 was to expand my fanbase and following across Canada! Being from Nova Scotia it can sometimes be tough to chart nationwide, but I was very excited to have my recent single “Great Minds Drink Alike” hit #1 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown in April. That was a great start for me expanding my audience outside of my home province, and I plan to travel to the CCMA’s in Hamilton in the fall to network and grow even further! Following indie artists and streaming their music helps more than you could ever know, and I am hopeful that my platforms will continue to grow leading up to the release of my newest project!!
