Vancouver pop artist Madisyn Gifford released her album, Sleeping On The Ceiling, via 604 Records.

The release chronicles Madisyn’s coming of age through her early twenties – from struggles with mental health, to relationship rollercoasters, celebrating the deep love within friendships and finding self-acceptance – Madisyn didn’t leave a single stone or emotion unturned as she compiled her heart into a 13 track collection.

Featuring a handful of unreleased originals accompanied by fan favourite releases such as the deeply introspective “Dancing On This Line,” celebratory bop “21,” and the lighthearted self-satirical “Hospital Beds” and “Prettiest Bitch,” the record strikes an emotional chord with focus track “For Shaughnessy,” a song written for Madisyn’s best friend that was never intended to be recorded or released.

When I started writing this album in the summer of 2021 my only goal was to write songs that scared me,” Madisyn shares. “I wanted to make music that was so vulnerable I would catch myself thinking “oh my gosh I can’t believe I’m actually gonna say that” constantly throughout the process of making it. It tells the story of growing up and out of some of the darkest places I’ve ever been in with the “slow and steady wins the race” mentality I had while living through it. It’s about grieving the experiences that my younger self had to go through in relationships and navigating how to move on into new ones while doing that. It’s the most honestly I’ve ever spoken about my past and my mental health, and most importantly it is a love letter to my female friendships. This album is most definitely my favourite thing I have ever made and I am so so excited to share it.
