Award-Winning Rising Prairie Country Star Emma Peterson Releases Explosive New Country-Pop Single in Collaboration With Chart-Topping Country Writers, “Got It Back”
Widely recognized as one of Prairie Canada’s most promising young Country talents, Manitoba’s Emma Peterson is a soaring and powerful vocalist who delivers expertly crafted lyrics to match. Inspired by Country music’s most recognized songwriters including Johnny Cash, Taylor Swift, and Martina McBride to name a few, Peterson’s award-winning music is carefully designed to evoke emotions, memories, and relatability in her listeners, in the same way as those who came before her. Catching the eye of some of the leading songwriters in music today, Peterson has begun working with Dwave Thomson (Lady A, Trisha Yearwood, Lights), Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Patricia Conroy, and Tina Parol (Celine Dion, Brittney Spears, Tenille Townes).
With a career that began by taking the top spot at CMT’s Chevy Tailgate Contest and placing within the Top 5 in Chevy’s Top 20, to being awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year award from the Manitoba Country Music Association, Peterson’s career has shown no signs of slowing down. Her debut album reached #4 on iTunes Canadian Country charts and was featured on SiriusXM’s Top of The Country channel. Just last year, Peterson was nominated for five Manitoba Country Music Awards, taking home two in the Interactive Artist of the Year and Album of the Year categories. This year, the rising Country artist is realizing one of her longtime dreams of performing on the Dauphin Countryfest stage, before she opens for Country stars Tim Hicks and Cory Marks this summer. Peterson has just released a brand new single given to her by Thomson, Conroy, and Parol titled “Got It Back” – a power Country-Pop song about regaining confidence.
Got It Back” marks the first time the singer-songwriter has recorded a song that was written with her as the performer in mind. The song was produced by co-writer, Dwave Tompson, with the instruments recorded in Nashville, TN.
Emma shares,
“Got It Back” captures that pivotal moment when you gain your confidence back after a breakup that will make you want to roll the windows down and sing along”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Emma Peterson and I’m a country artist from Manitoba! I grew up listening to Johnny Cash and Taylor Swift, which sparked my love for songwriting.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
“Got it Back” is a song about finding your confidence and regaining pieces of yourself that you lost. The song was written by Dwave Thomson, Patricia Conroy, Tina Parol, and Madeline Merlo. This song is my favorite song I have released so far!
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
My inspiration is always changing but I always try to draw from personal experiences. Whether it be something I have gone through, or seen a friend go through. Sometimes it will be as simple as hearing the lyrics and a melody in my head, or other times it starts with strumming chords on my guitar.
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?
I am so excited to be playing at Dauphin’s Countryfest this year on June 30th!
What’s your goal for 2023?
My goal for 2023 is to continue making music that I am proud of and connects with other people. I really hope that this year I can continue the momentum this song has brought me and connect with more fans!
