Friday Night Highlights From NXNE 2023 on June 16

North by Northeast (NXNE) took place from June 13-18 in Toronto, with hundreds of bands taking the stage at various venues.

Our Jeremy Li covered eight bands on Friday, June 16, seven Canadian and one coming from Cleveland.

Divine Lightbody

Divine is a talented Canadian R&B singer and songwriter who got to open up the NXNE music festival at Its Ok* Studio, the NXNE HQ.

Kings of Our Kin

Kings of Our Kin is a Toronto-based Pop Rock band with four members. They performed in the back room of the Cameron House.

Sunshine Makers

Sunshine Makers is based in London Ontario, and performed at the Horseshoe Tavern. Their performance definitely put a smile on the crowd.

Zee

Zee is a Montreal-born artist, combining pop, R&B, and jazz roots in her music. She performed at Rivoli for the NXNE festival, and she had a large crowd out there vibing to her music.

High Flyers

High Flyers is a Toronto-based funk/rock band that performed at Rivoli. With a packed crowd, they got the full crowd bobbing their heads. find them across well-known venues in Toronto.

Truss

Coming in from Cleveland, Truss is a four-person rock band that performed at the Bovine Sex Club. With a packed crowd dancing and jumping around, I think Toronto you guys here! Hope to see you back!

In Search Of Sasquatch

In Search of Sasquatch, a Calgary-based indie rock band, came soaring into the Paddock Tavern, to show off their amazing matching outfits. With their high energy and stage presence,

Tay Jireh

Drawing inspiration from artists like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and J Dilla, Tay Jireh is an emerging hip-hop artist based in Toronto. He performed at Its Ok* Studio on Friday and provided the crowd with some powerful beats to vibe to.
