POSTDATA Announces New Album, Run Wild & Unveils New Single, “Mine The Sea”
POSTDATA – the solo music project of Wintersleep’s lead singer and songwriter, Paul Murphy, announces a new album, Run Wild set for release on September 22, 2023, via Paper Bag Records. It follows 2021’s Twin Flames, which stacked up international praise – even in the middle of a global pandemic. Where Twin Flames slow burned, offering intricate sounds and mused in soft, quiet spaces, Run Wild gallops out of the gate. The shift was intentional.
“I felt like it was time to take POSTDATA someplace new, and be a little more free with what it is,” says Paul. “I was trying to go all-out stylistically, and trying to flesh out all the different places that it could actually take it. I wanted to give it more space, allow it to go wherever it needed to.”
Run Wild is previewed by debut video + single “Mine The Sea.”
Paul explains;
“’Mine The Sea’ is the idea of digging deeper into yourself to find who you are and where you want to go, says Paul. “It’s about the search…but also about letting go of habitual ways and allowing yourself to be being open to possibility.”
The video directed by Griffin O’toole, nods reverently to Radiohead.
“Creating this video with Paul was a blast,” he says. “When Paul approached me with this song I was so excited to get creative. Inspired by Radiohead’s video for “House of Card’s” I wanted to pay homage to something that was so groundbreaking for its time, but still make it new and special.”
Run Wild, from its encouraging, bright-eyed title, right through Murphy’s lyrics and prose, brings vibrations of self-discovery and growth. “At its best, songwriting is a place where you can feel yourself transitioning to new heights and lows.”
