Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Micah Sage and I’m an Indie/Alternative artist based in Calgary AB. I make music that’s dreamy, soulful, nostalgic, and cinematic.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My most recent project is my debut self-titled EP (coming out June 2023). It’s all self-written, played, recorded, and primarily self-produced. The EP is centered around themes of aging, growing, and life experience as an adolescent human. The record was written over the course of two years and production took place in my home studio in Calgary. Two of the songs from the record (“Stay the Same”, “More”) were co-produced remotely by Kofi AK (based in Toronto).

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Very often I pull inspiration from really specific situations, feelings, places, people, or things. It could be anything, very particular recollections of my own life experience, something I saw or read or heard somewhere or from someone else.  I just really like writing obscure lyrics, unpredictable lyrics you wouldn’t expect me to say, I find it draws listeners in more. It’s more fun for me to sing about the smell of apple juice, the imagery of someone’s old living room chair, or cyclones, mood swings, and hormones.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

After my release in June, I plan on doing quite a few shows, mostly around Alberta and Western Canada later in the year!

What’s your goal for 2023?

My goal for 2023 is to just get my music into the ears of more people who it connects to. I am so very fortunate to create and share my art. It means the whole entire world to me when someone says that they listen to my music while they’re going about their day. Or that they connect to a song, or relate to a lyric that I wrote. Human connection is so valuable to me and I am so lucky to do what I do!
