Maybe May Says You’re “Still Mine” With Their Latest Single

Mississauga rock-trio MAYBE MAY is back with a new single & EP.

The single, “Still Mine” comes off of the band’s EP, TYPE V, which was released on May 19, 2023. “Still Mine”  is a song about love lost, as one would expect from 3 guys from the suburbs. The video, however, throws you completely off that scent as the band takes part in hilarious summer activities riddled with inappropriate innuendo.

An enlisted feature on the single, is a longtime friend & Toronto artist Harley Olivia, adding the much welcome ‘wow factor’. Part NSFW part silly, have a look to see if this vibes with your summer plans.

Produced & engineered by JUNO Award-winning Kevin Dietz (THE GLORIOUS SONS, ALEXISONFIRE), the album was recorded at Toronto’s famed Union Sound Company & Mississauga’s internationally renowned Metalworks Studios, while mastered by Noah Mintz (BILLY TALENT, DFA1979).

Listen to TYPE V below and learn more about Maybe May via our mini-interview.

When it comes to your latest single, “Still Mine,” where did the inspiration come from?

“Still Mine” is about not wanting to let go. Sometimes stubborn, sometimes persistent, perhaps even a little naïve, the inspiration comes from lovers who refuse to see things for what they are.

“Still Mine” is from your upcoming EP, TYPE V, on which you worked with JUNO Award-winning producer and engineer, Kevin Dietz and mastered by Noah Mintz. How was that experience?

Dietz has been a blast to work with & over the course of this EP, has become a close friend. We feel his direction has leveled up the band quite a bit, as the right producer should. As for Noah, he’s a legend, can’t go wrong when he’s mastering your tracks!

The EP was recorded at Union Sound Company in Toronto and also at Mississauga’s Metalworks Studios. What was the highlight of the recording process?

I don’t think we pay too much attention to the studios we record in, although Union Sound & Metalworks are state-of-the-art spaces & we’re fortunate to have the opportunity. For us, it typically becomes about the laughs and where the best place to eat nearby is. Oh, and the music, of course, the music!

How did you choose “Still Mine” as the first single from the release?

We actually released “Survive, Satellite” & “Better” during the pandemic (2022) to keep busy. Those songs along with “Still Mine” & two others make up TYPE V EP. Videos for the other two will be released soon enough, stay tuned!

If you had to describe your sound in 3 words, what would they be?

Heavy, melodic & reminiscent.
