New single, “Stockholm Syndrome” Out Now!
“Write happier songs!!” She’d heard it a hundred times, so finally accepted this challenge and gave herself 10 attempts. Whichever of the 10 songs ended up the happiest, that’s what she would release. So here you have it… “Stockholm Syndrome” by Paige Warner.
Warner worked with Canadian Daydream Productions Inc to bring “Stockholm Syndrome” to life. Along with her stunning vocals, some featured instrumentalists include Mitchell McCloy (bass), Stefan Tamala (drums), Trick Vilbar (guitar), and Stephen C Warner (organs), with mastering by Dan Brodbeck.
“Stockholm Syndrome” is a perfect combination of so many things. The intimate, compelling vocal opens the song, soon being joined by the moving bass and swung rock beat, a catchy alt-pop chorus, and a wild bluesy instrumental.
As you can guess from the title, this song isn’t all that happy. However, the music tells its story with an uptempo beat you blindly fall in love with, while the true meaning sits hidden within the lyrics. “The devil’s made a great case for my love”.
Paige Warner describes the song’s intention:
“Stockholm Syndrome is for anyone who has fallen in love with the wrong person. It’s for those who want to stomp and clap their way out of it. To stomp and clap until their brains realize the truth.”
If there is such a thing as a dark anthem, this is it. Sing along while the rock drums carry you into the swung tune. “Stockholm Syndrome. It’s all part of that… Stockholm Syndrome.”
