Fast-Rising Pop-Country Artist Kassandra Clack Shares Debut Album, Trippin’ In Heels

Kassandra Clack, the B.C.-based pop-country songwriter, today releases her debut album, Trippin’ In Heels. The album features six songs, including the wildly infectious “Where I’m At,” the chiming and melodic first single, “Short Cut” and the acoustic ballad “Algorithm,” which last month was added into rotation on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country channel.

Steeped in the rich storytelling tradition of the country music she grew up with, the buoyant original songs on Trippin’ In Heels scan as pop with vibrant hayseed touches. All of the songs on the album are as bright and bracing as a May morning.

“This album represents stepping into the best version of myself. There is so much pressure in this life, and it’s short. I hope with this album, other people are inspired to feel this way, too,” says Clack, who created an ace team for the making of the album, including co-writes with Canadian country stars SACHA and Elyse Saunders. Clack also worked with renowned Toronto-based songwriter and singing coach Roberta Michele, who co-wrote four of the album’s six songs and worked on vocal delivery, plus session star Adam Newcomb, who added everything from pedal steel to guitar to banjo to bass.

Clack’s debut album is a reflection of her exceptional musical vision, her abiding humor, and her strategic savvy. The multi-talented Clack acts in commercials to help underwrite her music gig, sold homemade cinnamon buns from the trunk of her car to help fund costly recording sessions and used sofa cushions to create a makeshift studio in her living room and cut the song, “Where I’m At,” when COVID laid her low. Using her challenges as things she could wrangle and get done, Clack enrolled in and completed a marketing and entertainment law-focused music business course in anticipation of things returning to normal.

The new album seems certain to build on the many achievements Clack has amassed to date, including (but not limited to) creating major buzz on satellite radio and tallying over 100,000 collective streams everywhere from Texas to Tennessee, L.A. to T.O.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi! I am a touring pop-country artist! I am so thrilled to be releasing my very first album “Trippin’ In Heels!” I started writing this album remotely from Vancouver then made my way to continue my writing journey in Nashville all before the production took place in Toronto.

You have unveiled your album, Trippin’ In Heels. Tell us a bit about the writing process behind the release.

“Trippin’ In Heels” is an album that has integrated all the parts of me. The journey through the music industry has been connected to so many pivotal emotional moments in my life. This album represents many different parts of myself and I hope it offers you a comfortable space to go within and meet new parts of yourself.

On the album, you did co-writes with fellow Canadian country artists SACHA and Elyse Saunders. How were those experiences?

Incredible! They say to be successful long-term you must align yourself with people that share your vision and these ladies did just that and MORE! These are writers who take a direction, concept or idea and completely elevate it in every sense while operating with such warmth and kindness! I am beyond grateful for their support and spirit and this album would be nothing without them!

You previously unveiled the single, “Short Cut.” What about this track made it perfect for the first single?

Short Cut was the perfect teaser single because we believe it showcased a really clear direction that I’m headed. Still retaining that southern instrumentation that melts my heart while praising this message of what I know to be a really common new version of our “everyday” life.

What’s your favorite thing about being a musician in Maple Ridge, BC?

The community is incredibly supportive towards helping lift me up and always encouraging me to spread my wings. It truly does take a team and this community is my #1.

What’s next for you in 2023?

This year, you can look forward to seeing new official music videos, a special limited edition vinyl option (Only 50 available! Order at kassandraclack.com), a North American Tour, and a radio tour. Cannot wait to see you all on the road!
