Juno-award-winning producer, songwriter, remixer, and engineer Corey LeRue is up for Dance Recording of the Year for the track “IDTYK” and an industry award for Producer of the Year.
After founding and touring with one of Canada’s fastest-rising acts, Neon Dreams, Corey made the decision to step off the road. His focus was then turned to production and creating Dreaming Out Loud Records with his fellow band members.
Listen to “IDTYK” below and learn more about Corey via our mini-interview.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Corey, a music producer, songwriter, and engineer from Halifax! I’ve been working in the music business for 13 years and have been making music for 16 years. I’ve had the blessing to be able to travel the world and make songs, and I’m currently signed to Ultra Music Publishing as a songwriter!
You’re nominated for an East Coast Music Award this year. Is this your first time being nominated?
It is for a song of my own! I’ve been lucky to have many nominations as a producer or songwriter. Last year I won Producer of the Year!
Are you performing anywhere during the festivities from May 3-7? If so, where?
Saturday, May 6th, at the electronic stage @ 12pm!
Are there any specific events through the weekend that you are excited to check out?
I always get excited about the awards show. It’s great to reconnect with so many friends and see all the awards handed out!
Who would you choose if you could work with any fellow East Coast artist?
Having family roots in Newfoundland, Great Big Sea was always playing when I was younger. So I would love to work with Alan Doyle!
What’s next for you in 2023?
I plan on keeping all the momentum going and continuing to write songs. I spend most of my time producing and writing songs for other artists, and I love to do so!
