Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey-o! This is Danny here, aka Livers. I’m a Guelph-based indie artist, and I love making music! Been doing it since high school, and I’d say my biggest influences are Tame Impala, Bon Iver, the Beach Boys, and the Beatles to name a few.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My EP Soon is two songs I recorded in my room about envy and ambitions/success. I’ve been trying to make a career out of my music for a while now, and these songs are kind of about some feelings I sometimes have surrounding that. The first track “Lie” is about envy and my anxieties that tend to compare myself to my peers and other artists that I idolize. The second and more upbeat track “Soon” is a song reminding me to keep at it and that my work will pay off one day.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
I pretty much always write about personal things and real-life experiences. I always try to be honest with my writing, so I write what I know. From a musical standpoint, I’m constantly inspired by artists I’m listening to, and for this release, I’d say Glitter Party and the Strokes were in the back of my head while making this.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
Not at the moment, but hoping to play many shows and festivals this coming summer. Information about that will be on my Instagram page when the time comes. I put on a very energetic indie show with my incredible backing band, I hope to see you at the next one!
What’s your goal for 2023?
I’ve got quite a lot, honestly! I’d very much like to make a music video for this release once the weather gets really nice. I’m also planning on releasing another EP at the end of the summer, which I’m stoked about. Additionally, I want to play many shows this year and have one of them recorded so that I can put it up on youtube. Also working on an album right now that I’m hoping to complete by the end of the summer and release the following winter : )
