The single is from the forthcoming album, which promises to be a synth-pop spectacle
Breathe Of My Leaves, comprised of Stephano Barberis (music) and Jordan Gant (vocals/lyrics), has released their latest single, “All The Memories Made.”
The shapeshifting song is an emotional and dramatic track that meanders through multiple surprise changes in tone and texture. Initially intended as only an album track, it now finds itself as a single.
Jordan shares,
“When have I ever been good enough? A constant struggle to pay bills, make friends and family happy, and put on an ever-demanding face of shining armour has been hard to do these days.
Reflecting on insecurities, lack of momentum mentally, and trying to spew out as much creativity as possible can make someone question the very being of their existence. Where is my foundation? It has been a hard three years. I had a horrifying dream of me hoarding all my loves, treasures, and talents because I felt that without them selfishly close by, I was a shell of a being-Just waking up to myself, sharing with myself, and exiling anyone other than myself. Yet, by not sharing my passion through words and song, holding on to the insecurities like personal undervalued treasure-just for the sake of me feeling stable every night when I fall asleep is tragic.
My words are writings on the wall for everyone to see, or not. Over the last two years, I needed to be lifted up from being underwater most days. I need to love. It is the only way to continue. And if the love in my life leaves me, I will only be shattered by the memories taken by my own hand. Because I didn’t properly contribute to them, I will accept that I twisted them and that I pushed everyone away.
I don’t want to continue to live that way. Wake me up, I need to love.”
Stephano adds,
“I always thought this was the ideal album track that would never be a single, but the more it sat with me, the more I absolutely loved the massive difference in vibe from all our other songs in the past. It really is a showcase for Jordan’s incredible vocal versatility and the vulnerability in his lyrics sent pulsating shockwaves through my heart. It’s a nostalgic Breathe Of My Leaves torch song and the next singles/ album coming later are nuclear super-pop, so this was a great, palate-cleansing transition before we get into those. You can feel the drama as it moves from tender to impassioned, and from wounded to resolute. It’s mercurial, soulful, and complex but still manages to find a firm pop footing.”
Also included on the single is the new bonus track “Gold” (with Jordan’s vocals on it as opposed to the typical Breathe Of My Leaves instrumental “b-side”) and the Primordial Dub mix of “Supernova Heart,” which was the original pre-vocal instrumental demo of the track.
As an interesting tidbit, the artwork for the single was a mixture of A.I.-generated imagery and many layers of other non-A.I. art. As usual, all the artwork (and videos) are created by Stephano Barberis.
