Beloved Toronto-based songwriter Eamon McGrath has unveiled “Sundown in Osaka” via CupsNCakes. “Sundown in Osaka” is a dreamy recollection of a leveling case of jet lag experienced by McGrath in Japan’s “second city” while on tour last November supporting 2022’s Bells of Hope LP. The song fits perfectly amidst the folk-inspired direction of A Dizzying Lust, as McGrath’s trademark notoriety as a savage rocker is put to the test, opting instead for a rare subtle minimalism and focused attention to the lyrics and song. A Dizzying Lust (Cassettes Records / Saved By Vinyl) arrives on CD and all streaming platforms on March 31, 2023, and McGrath will be taking the album across Ontario and Europe this spring.
A prolific and respected musician with a 15+ year touring history including Canada, the UK, the USA, Europe, Mexico, and Japan, McGrath has released over 25 albums, written two books, scored two feature films, and has toured the world relentlessly since 2007, cultivating an international audience and committed, loyal network of fans. His fiercely DIY approach has garnered him respect and admiration in both the indie rock and folk communities, as he effortlessly bridges a gap between both genres, composing heartbreakingly beautiful songs that are performed with honest, intense energy on stages worldwide.
“Sundown in Osaka” is the latest single following the acclaimed “Teenager” and “Fireworks” releases that put McGrath on the road in Ontario and Quebec this winter supporting Will Hoge and The Mahones.
