Inaugural festival to take place July 14-15, 2023 in Cavendish, PEI

Summer has never sounded or tasted so sweet. Today, award-winning event company Whitecap Entertainment has made sure that Cavendish will be THE place for music fans and foodies to gather this summer with the announcement of Bell Presents Sommo, a festival of music, food, and drink. On July 14 and 15 in Canada’s favourite coastal beach town, Sommo will bring the very best parts of summer to life — live music and dining al fresco — with main stage performances by Mumford & Sons, Maggie Rogers, Lord Huron, Vance Joy, Tegan and Sara and Charlotte Cardin and culinary experiences featuring Gail Simmons, Matt Moore, Ilona Daniel, and Adam Loo.

Kicking off on Friday, the two-day festival will celebrate the best of Canada’s Atlantic provinces.

“We’re so proud of where we live and work and wanted more ways to share the people and things that make it home,” explained Ben Murphy, CEO, Whitecap Entertainment. “Sommo will not only allow us to highlight the outstanding talent found here on the Island, both musical and culinary, but it will also allow us to host worldwide talent, giving them a taste of the East Coast. We’re excited for people to see, hear and taste what we have planned for this year!”

Differentiating itself from other festivals across the country, Sommo will have a strong focus on culinary and beverage experiences. Guests will have the unique opportunity to meet celebrity chefs, participate in live food demonstrations and try the best of local breweries and wineries. Fans of the Food Network are sure to be first in line for tickets as Top Chef Judge, and best-selling author Gail Simmons and Islander Adam Loo will join Sommo on Saturday, while Matt Moore and Ilona Daniel kick off the festivities on Friday.

Quickly becoming the most anticipated event of 2023, Sommo will see multiple stages come to life with performances by both local and internationally recognized artists. Bringing together fans of both pop and rock genres, the weekend will kick off on Friday at the Sandbar Stage with performances by Andrew Waite, Dear Rouge, Crown Lands, JJ Wilde, Death From Above 1979, and Liam Corcoran. Rounding out the day will be Bell Main Stage performances by Skye Wallace, Joel Plaskett Emergency, grandson, Tegan and Sara, and Lord Huron, with the evening coming to a close with a headlining performance by Grammy-nominated songstress Maggie Rogers.

Saturday will be made unforgettable as Housewife, Izzy Heltai, MONOWHALES, Wild Rivers, Yoke Lore, and Kiwi jr step onto the Sandbar Stage. Keeping the party going, BRKN LOVE, Ruby Waters, Allison Russell, Charlotte Cardin, and Vance Joy will warm up the Bell Main Stage crowd for a not-to-be-missed headlining performance by Mumford & Sons.

Tickets for this inaugural festival will be available today and start at $99. For more information, visit sommofest.com. Fans are encouraged to follow Bell Presents Sommo on social media to not miss a thing.
