Last night, Belgo-Congolese rap sensation Damso set a sold-out Place Bell on fire! After having to cancel his Osheaga 2022 set due to production issues, the rapper finally brought his long-awaiting QALF Tour in town for the first of two nights.
No opener was needed, as long lines of fans snaked around the venue as soon as doors opened. The majority of the crowd made it inside right as a 5-minute countdown appeared on the screen. As the clock hit zero the audience went into a frenzy, which remained until the end of the show.
Damso emerged on stage to the sounds of O.G., his hand up in his signature “Vie” (life) sign. With a massive triangle stage of screens and pyro, it’s easier to understand why his Osheaga set was canceled (as he had said “not being able to bring the full QALF concept there”), it was a large set to take in. Alone on stage, without band nor DJ, Damso did not let that stage swallow him, as he took over the space fully.
For over two hours, Damso powered through 35 (!!) of his hits, including fan favorites Dieu Ne Ment Jamais, Macarena, J Respect R and Bruxelles Vie. The 8,000 or so fans in attendance sang and jumped along the whole night, for what will truly be a show to remember!
Damso will be presenting his QALF Tour at Place Bell again tonight, and you do not want to miss it! A handful of tickets are still available on Evenko’s website.
