LEATHERS shares the brand new single, “Highrise”
Vancouver’s own LEATHERS, a solo project and darkwave dream of Shannon Hemmett (ACTORS), has unveiled the new single “Highrise” via Artoffact Records.
Hemmett comments:
“I’m always fighting through my inhibitions. With “Highrise,” I get to fantasize about an illicit encounter with wealth and sexual power in a penthouse high above the city. What could be more fun?!”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello! I’m Shannon, the lead singer from the Vancouver electro-pop band LEATHERS.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
We just dropped our new single, “Highrise,” which describes an illicit encounter with wealth and sexual power in a penthouse high above the city. We debuted this song live on our US tour this past summer, and it’s been exciting to have the studio version out in the world, finally.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
I have a visual arts background in photography, so I like looking through images that have a cinematic atmosphere when I’m writing music and lyrics. I love to read, too; the cool, affectless style of “Highrise” was influenced by the writings of J.G. Ballard and Bret Easton Ellis.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
We’re excited to play the Dark Force Festival on April 1st in Parsippany, New Jersey, and the Verboden Festival in Vancouver on May 13th. More announcements to come soon.
What’s your goal for 2023?
We’d love to land a support slot and warm up the crowd for an iconic band on tour this year. Depeche Mode or The Cure would be at the top of our wish list.
