Zach Coopz shares his five picks of the week from Canadian Beats Media
Welcome back, fans of good music! We’ve got some recommendations that I chose for you from this last week’s batch of incredible music featured on our website. Most of which you probably haven’t even heard of before. That makes it very exciting to come back every Monday for new articles on Zach’s Picks Of The Week! The place where I will give you my five favourite articles that were featured this last week. But that doesn’t mean these are the only things that were featured on our website. There are so many more that weren’t featured in this post. They are worth browsing if you give them a chance. In the video below, you will get an opportunity to hear each of my recommendations from this week. However, the links to each of these articles will be in this post. So keep on reading and then head to each of these five articles. Now let’s get into the music you’ve been waiting so patiently for. These are Zach’s Picks Of The Week!
Five
Let’s begin this week’s list with the latest from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Wayne. He’s recently shared his new single, “Wherever You Land,” on our website, and you can find it on all streaming sites now. But this new single brings forth the message that life is precious. None of us are exempt from illness, old age, or death. There is beauty in the small things. This song will be a part of the collection of self-produced tracks, with help from Malcolm Burn, that will reside on his upcoming record. The album’s title is Crow Amongst the Sparrows, and it will be released this year. You should check out our Five Questions With segment with Ryan Wayne here.
Four
Moving into our next exciting post, I want to share with you. It takes us to Toronto’s Scottish folk, global roots, and reggae group, Ashara. Leading this group is Scottish-Canadian, two-time Juno Award nominee, Canadian Reggae Award winner, and best-selling author Jason Wilson. Their group announced their debut self-titled album was going to be released this year on September 29 everywhere. But for now, they are leading with a new single and the video for “My Love Sings Like A Lintie.” That is available, of course, on all streaming platforms for you to check out now or in our article. The article, where we have a mini-interview with Ashara, can be found here.
Three
Next up is a very talented artist. Heading from Brampton, Ontario, transgender and disabled artist Ms. Bobbie The Art Pixie has unveiled the debut single, “Superstar.” It’s available now on all streaming platforms and was written by Ms. Bobbie and Chance Burlock, who also sings on the track. The song consists of a lively R&B-inspired beat, that’s lyrics have a storytelling, fairytale-inspired vibe. This release goes above and beyond for the first offering under the new moniker, Ms. Bobbie The Art Pixie. You can learn more in our Five Questions With segment with Ms. Bobbie, where you can also hear the new single. Check it out here.
Two
We’re moving into the top two in my list of recommendations this week. That will take us to the west coast in Vancouver, BC, to meet country/pop singer Justin Mattock. Justin is no stranger to the Canadian music scene; he started in the pop-rock/ pop-punk realm and later found himself pulled to the dark side of the force, country pop. He’s recently unveiled the new single, “Seventeen,” to all streaming platforms, which follows up some of his previous releases. The new song is a nostalgic and introspective song that looks back on being 17 years old during the summer of ’95. I was born later that year, but Justin is here to entertain you with his music. Check out our single review of “Seventeen” here.
One
Now I bring you my final choice in the incredible list of new articles and posts from our website. The last one will be Victoria-based singer-songwriter Aaron Wylder, who unveiled his three-song EP, Adventure Songs. This record is available across all streaming platforms and follows after his indie folk ballad, “I Could Be Your One.” However, this new EP, Adventure Songs, gives us a brief glimpse into Aaron’s talents and leaves the listeners ready for more. One of the songs off the EP, “Don’t Let Me Down,” has a vibe throughout that is a mixture of country and rock. He seamlessly blends the two genres to create an extraordinary track. You can explore the songs from this record on all your favourite streaming platforms or in the article, where we have posted an album review. Please go and check out this article here.
