Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Carly Reirson. I’m an Alberta-based musician currently living in Calgary, AB. I have had a love affair with music for as long as I can remember, and I am passionate about connecting with others through my music. Apart from the folk style of music that I write, I love jazz, opera, musicals, film scores, and indie music. Some of my current favourite artists are Dodie, Lizzy McApline, and Rett Madison.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

“Aurora” is a song that came out of a songwriting project on metaphor. Putting it off until the last minute, I procrastinated on it by heading on a quick road trip with a friend late into the night, only to be struck by the Northern lights off in the distance. I went home and wrote this song. It continues to hold great meaning and memory from a special time in my life and is a prime example of how I love to paint pictures with lyrics and melodies.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

My personal life, relationships, and struggles are where I write from. Writing is a form of catharsis for me. I use music, melody, and lyrics to process my deepest, most vulnerable feelings. As the songs become a part of my story and my healing, they move on and have their own life, becoming the stories and songs of my listeners.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

My Annual Winery and Brewery tour in Okanagan, British Columbia, will be happening during the summer of 2023. Stay tuned on my website and social media for dates.

What’s your goal for 2023?

2023 will hold a lot of high notes for my career. I will release two more singles in the first half of the year and will finish recording the rest of my first full-length record with the multiple award-winning producer, Murray Pulver in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I will also continue touring throughout Canada, playing festivals and winery tours, and songwriting for my next project.
