Snotty Nose Rez Kids
November 26, 2022
St.John’s Convention Centre (SJCC), St.John’s, Newfoundland
First Light’s all-ages Spirit and Song Festival returned to St. John’s on Saturday, November 26th, for its week-long festival ending with a high-energy performance from our boujee natives, Snotty Nose Rez Kids. I hope you’re as surprised as I was when I share that the crowds ranged from newborn to 70 years old or more and were full of the best dancers I’ll ever see. The kids love SNRK, the parents love SNRK, the parents parents love SNRK, you get it.
First Nations hip-hop group Snotty Nose Rez Kids, originally from Kitamaat Village, British Columbia, touched down for their second Newfoundland show of 2022. They showcased songs from their new album I’M GOOD, HBU, which was released December 2nd; along with other classics like “Boujee Natives,” “Lost Tribe,” “Change,” and “Sink or Swim” – to which they started (and joined in on) a nice big Mosh Pit. Between the mosh pit, a song circle, and inviting people on stage, they kept the crowd engaged from start to finish. These men are so talented in lyrical skills, entertainment, super fresh style, production skills, and using their voices to empower all the communities they reach, there is no stopping them, and every step is up!
