The 3rd Winterruption YEG festival announces another round of local, national, and international talent, gracing the stages of downtown Edmonton between January 25th to January 29th, 2023.
Additions include Philadelphia’s Ron Gallo, Toronto’s garage stars Wine Lips, the return of Edmonton’s indie-electro stars Faunts, Saskatchewan stars Surf Dads, Dump Babes, Marissa Burwell, Calgary up and comers Betaboys & Jung People and the best of the Edmonton music scene including Wares, Aladean Kheroufi, Ntwali, The Provincial Archive, Good Information, The Eclipse, Dual Nature and wihtikow.
Wine Lips and Ron Gallo, along with Polaris winner Pierre Kwenders complete a stacked 9910 three-day line up, presented by Exclaim! The return of local Faunts is a welcome addition to the January 26th show with Holy Fuck at the Starlite and will see the band play for the first time locally in over seven years. Regina’s Surf Dads headline the Saturday night at Soho YEG along with locals Dual Nature, Treaty 6’s Dump Babes and Calgary’s Exit Division.
“These additions to the festival quite frankly make a good thing even better,” says Festival Producer Brent Oliver. “We’re so happy to bring Ron Gallo & Wine Lips to Edmonton, Faunts out of retirement and some of the best indie bands in Western Canada to Treaty 6 territory this January.”
Started in 2019 in conjunction with Saskatoon and Regina Winterruption festivals, and Calgary’s Big Winter Classic, Winterruption YEG works closely with the arts community of Edmonton and greater Western Canadian winter community arts festivals to create a truly unique festival experience. Every show will also be subject to a safe and inclusive space policy, and a number of events will be geared towards all ages and family communities, as well as 18+.
Programming is mandated to be diverse and inclusive, in genre, gender, sexuality, age and culture. Festival wristbands and individual show tickets are on sale now through www.winterruptionyeg.com.
Limited festival wristbands (nearly 50% sold!) are only $49 plus service charge, with other events ranging from free to $32.50 per show.
