Justine Giles unveils her single, “Another Chance”
Calgary, AB-based singer-songwriter Justine Giles shines with a fresh perspective and a hopeful, open-hearted approach on her latest single, “Another Chance.”
Following the release of her deeply personal single “Save Myself,” Giles turns outward for inspiration, unearthing new emotions while making musical nods to a distinct Alberta landscape. “Another Chance” offers a glimmer of hope, with the possibility of leaving trauma in the rear-view mirror on the road to new horizons.
“Another Chance” is the latest poignant chapter of that journey, during which she learned that her past has helped carve out a bright future.
“There’s an element of fun, mystery, and exploration—and also a hint of frustration about not being able to predict the future of our relationships,” Justine says, “although the overall tone of this song is about finding acceptance and going with the flow, there’s definitely an element of surrender in admitting that maybe we don’t know it all.”
Review
Beginning with a dramatic and intense beat and Justine’s captivating vocals, “Another Chance” is an impressive follow-up to “Save Myself.”
Throughout the track, Justine’s vocals range from mellow to powerful and compelling.
The lyrics “I’ve been to hell and back, I wasn’t planning on giving love another chance, I’ve been hurt, lost track, Thought it was safer to give up in advance, But meeting someone like you makes me question that, Wasn’t planning on it, but here goes another chance,” will speak to the masses. I dare you not to sing along with this catchy as hell chorus.
Once we reach the bridge, Justine offers, “Maybe we’re better off living in fantasy,” “Maybe we chalk it up to chemistry,” giving alternate scenarios to fit the listener’s story, which makes the track even more relatable.
By the end of the track, I wanted more from Justine and went back and listened to all of her previous singles. It’s always fun to do that and see the artist’s growth.
