Dean Brody celebrates the release of his new single “You Got The Wrong Guy” after a stellar summer of live shows
September 30 marked the third single in 2022 from multi-PLATINUM, Canadian entertainer Dean Brody with the release of “You Got The Wrong Guy.” Written by Travis Wood (James Barker Band, Jade Eagleson), Jason Massey (Kelsea Ballerini), and Jesse Lee Levin (Kelsea Ballerini), “You Got The Wrong Guy” highlights Brody’s deep-rooted beliefs in standing up for what is right and takes listeners through the all too familiar story of seeing someone you love and care for give their heart to someone who doesn’t deserve it.
Drawn to the song by the hook’s turn of phrase and a play on the well-known expression, “You Got The Wrong Guy,” this track takes on a new direction sonically for Brody as he closes out the biggest year of his career. To close out his jam-packed summer, headlining multiple festival stages across Canada, Brody took the stage for his sixth year headlining at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on September 24, becoming the only Canadian country artist to hold a six-year residency at the iconic venue.
Says Brody, speaking of the first time he heard “You Got The Wrong Guy,”
“It’s very rare for me to relate so strongly to a song I didn’t write but that’s exactly what happened with this new one. I rarely cut outside tracks, but the first time I heard this one I knew it was meant for me. It tells a story that so many of us can relate to and, because of that, I’m really looking forward to everyone hearing it.”
