Jessica Sole to Release Sweet New Single “Good In Goodbye”
Shelburne, ON-based pop-country artist Jessica Sole has shared her new single, “Good In Goodbye.”
The upbeat song was made in collaboration with award-winning producer Shawn Moore and offers a fresh perspective on the quintessential break-up anthem. The track is the second single off Jessica’s forthcoming sophomore EP, a project that was recorded at Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studios.
Listen to “Good in Goodbye” below, and learn more about Jessica Sole via our mini-interview.
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! My name is Jessica Sole. I’m a country artist from the small town of Shelburne, Ontario! I’m also a songwriter and have been writing songs for the last ten years. 2022 has been a big year for me! I went down to Nashville for the first time to record my upcoming EP at the iconic Blackbird Studios. Then I headed to the Country Music Association of Ontario awards in June and just recently got back from the CCMA’s in Calgary earlier this month! In July, my husband and I had the most perfect wedding up in Northern Ontario. We got to spend the weekend celebrating with our family and friends in Killarney (our favourite spot!). Now I’m so excited to release the next single off my EP, “Good in Goodbye.”
You have unveiled your single, “Good In Goodbye.” What can you tell us about the writing process behind the single?
This song was so much fun to bring to life! It’s inspired by a friend of mine. She and I have FaceTime dates as often as we can since she lives in BC and I’m in Ontario. I remember during one call, she was telling me she had bad news; the guy she was seeing had broken up with her. Then she said that the breakup wasn’t even the worst news but that he didn’t give her a reason to hate him when he left. She said he didn’t cheat on her, didn’t lie to her, didn’t say anything mean, and that he really “gave me the good in goodbye.” As soon as she told me that, I said, “one second, I need to write this down.” The next day I brought the idea to a co-writer of mine, Elias James, and the song was born.
You collaborated with Shawn Moore on the release. How was that experience?
Shawn and I have been working together for the last few years now! He produced my last EP, “Think of Us,” which was recorded at Catherine North Studios in Hamilton, Ontario. He also produced my upcoming EP while we were in Nashville and is a co-writer on one of the tracks. Getting to work on my music alongside such good friends is so special. Shawn puts everything he has into every project he works on. He’s a pro in every sense of the word.
The single is off of your forthcoming sophomore EP, which was recorded at Nashville’s legendary Blackbird Studios. What was the highlight of the experience?
Having the opportunity to record at such an iconic studio was such an amazing experience. Blackbird has so many beautiful spaces, and the studios we got to work in were unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. The highlight of my experience was definitely getting to work alongside studio owner and world-renowned audio engineer John McBride, who engineered this project. We spent 4 days at his studio, and he was so great to work with! Something else that is so special about this is my dad played on this project as well. He came with us to Nashville and recorded the percussion.
What else can we expect from you in 2022?
On top of my new single, “Good in Goodbye,” I’m looking forward to getting ready for the release of the rest of this upcoming EP. Some of my favourite songs I’ve ever written are on this one. I’ll also be playing some shows around Ontario as well as heading back to Nashville before the new year!
