Canadian Beats Passport – Show Review – Alex Cameron

Who: Alex Cameron
When: November 15th, 2019
Where: Phoenix Concert Hall, Toronto ON

From the time that Alex Cameron hit the stage at the Phoenix the crowd instantly lost it, and for good reason. As someone who has seen him live twice now, I can guarantee that this was the best Alex Cameron shows so far. Joined by his friend and business partner Roy Malloy (who is also his saxophonist), they brought their very bruce Springsteen with a smooth jazz sound to the venue. He opened up with his set with a song from his new album Miami Memory accompanied by his epic dance moves. Although his set had a couple of sound issues, his aura and vibes echoed through the hall. He and his backup band played a lot of old and new songs from previous albums including Jumping the Shark and Forced Witness. In between sets, he mentioned a few times to the crowd that Toronto was by far one of the best places to perform in, and will always return. Their opener Holiday Sidewinder sets the tone and mood for the rest of the night to follow. Roy Malloy did his classic stool rating routine, giving the Pheonix stool a 4 out of 5 stars. Alex has come so far from internet meme to rising star, his crowd is only going to get bigger and better. Make sure you catch this amazing entertainer live, his stage performance is always something amazing. Bring money.
