All five shows are produced by Banshee Events Co, a not-for-profit organization co-founded and led by JUNO-nominated Nova Scotia-born musician Lisa MacIsaac and Nova Scotia music enthusiast, Jamie Whitty. The organization’s motivation and vision is to support and empower women and non-binary artists and help create equality within all aspects of the Canadian music industry.

“It takes a team and a community to push this important movement forward and create true equality in our industry with representation in all trades and skills, and in concert line-ups across our country,” says MacIsaac. “As we built the business plan and started planning the launch of our “Small Of My Heart” concert series, we felt it was critical to include both up and coming artists, as well as seasoned songwriters who have helped pave the way. I feel very lucky to have such gifted peers and friends who I could call on, and who believed in the movement.”

Grateful with the level of support received to date and around their first concert in Halifax in November 2023, MacIsaac knows very well the challenges that come with being a female musician and entrepreneur in the music business. She, along with her bandmate Brenley MacEachern, have been building their global brand and success with “Madison Violet” for over twenty years.

The ‘in-the-round’ show aims to create a memorable fan experience where well-known and award-winning songwriters will share their real, resilient, and unique journeys with incredible songwriting, harmonies, musicianship, and storytelling, including some fun and horrifying road experiences and stories that helped create their celebrated music.

“No night will be the same. That is the beauty of this unique concert series,” adds MacIsaac. “Each show will make you feel like you are sitting with these artists in your own living room. There will be loads of laughs and likely a few tears as well, as that is exactly what artists do when they get together.”
