Born in the city of Montreal, QC, Nova Rose was first introduced to music by her Egyptian-born father who would play the guitar as she sang along every night before bed. This routine quickly developed into a passion leading her to learn the violin, guitar, and piano.
By the time she graduated university, Nova Rose was writing songs with artists from around the world, performing at different venues throughout Canada, and reached a #1 spot on Quebec radio stations, all the while embracing modern pop sounds.
Now, she has unveiled her new single, “G.L.I.T.R.”, a nostalgic number that takes the listener back to those summer flings they once had. They’re fun and then they disappear, but it’s always fun to reminisce about them which is why Nova Rose invites her listeners to take my hand and get lost in the rhythm with me.
Check out the lyric video for “G.L.I.T.R.” below, and find out more about Nova Rose via our Five Questions With segment.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey everyone! I’m Nova Rose and I’m a singer and songwriter from Montreal. I play a few instruments, including the violin, and have an unhealthy obsession with sushi & pizza.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
My music is definitely pop-centric. Some artists that I’m inspired by are Tove Lo, Julia Michaels & Halsey. I like writing about 21st-century problems, I try to incorporate real-life events in my music whether they be mine or stories I’ve heard!
How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?
I’ve been writing almost every day of the pandemic. For me, writing is a bit of an “escape” from reality, so being able to do virtual writing sessions was something that kept me busy and at times distracted! I was also able to record pretty much my whole album during the pandemic, which is insane.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Hmmm, I think right now, I would say Need Me. It really captures what everyone may be feeling right now!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Ah! I have sooooo many, but here are a few: Josh Sahunta, Alexe, Sara Diamond, Tate McRae, renforshort.
