Up and coming pop artist, Terez has released her debut single, “La. La. La.”. Although she is just releasing her debut single, this young pop singer is anything but new to the music scene. After performing across North America with influencers like Nicole Arbour and performing on stage with superstars like Keith Urban, her fans were begging for original music, and she answered the call.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Terez, and I am a Canadian singer-songwriter. I was born and raised in Alberta and still consider it to be my home base. I frequently travel to Los Angeles, Nashville, and Toronto, but always look forward to returning home.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I consider my music to be thoughtful pop – something you can dance to, but also have a good cry to. My background as a writer was actually more so in country than in pop. In my experience, being born and raised in Alberta and traveling to Nashville frequently naturally leads to writing country music. I now write both country and pop songs for other artists, while keeping my favorite pop tunes for myself.
Country and pop writing is quite different in that country songs typically have more of a story throughout the song, whereas pop can be a little simpler, which oddly enough is sometimes harder to write. I’ve found that my history in country music has allowed me to approach pop writing with a deeper understanding of storytelling and detail.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I have things in the works to be going out on the road soon, no dates that I can share just yet but I am so excited to meet more of my amazing fans. They have been so loving and supportive and I can’t wait to visit their cities. My live performance is high energy while still maintaining a level of intimacy with the audience, which I feel my music also reflects. I once heard Jim Carrey say something to the effect that as a performer it is your job to make people forget about their workweek and the stress in their life and I apply that to my performances so that the crowd feels like they can let loose and enjoy themselves.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
So far, La. La. La. is the only song that I’ve released, but there are many more to come.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favorite Canadian bands/ artists?
Some of my favorites Canadian artists right now are Donovan Woods, ASHS, and Merkules. But I will forever be a huge Avril Lavigne fan (did the pink hair give it away?).
