Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Based out of Halifax, NS. We are four alternative rockers passionate about keeping grunge music alive and well. Dazor is Ian Panter (Guitar, Vocals), Andrew MacMillan (Bass), Lewis Belcher (Drums), Derek Thibeault (Guitar, Backing Vocals).
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Our music encompasses influences from the alt-rock/grunge movement of the 1990s by bands such as Nirvana, Foo Fighters and The Smashing Pumpkins. I would describe it as laying somewhere between heavy and melodic, which makes it easily digestible for someone who does not listen to Rock on heavy rotation, however, it will please even the most ardent Rock fans.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Our next show is May 25th @ “The Cave” (Sydney, NS). For those who have yet to see us live; our performances are engaging, sweaty and full of energy. Be prepared to rock if you’re coming to a Dazor show.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Our latest single “All Night”. It showcases our heavier grunge side harnessing a chorus that we feel wouldn’t sound out of place on mainstream radio.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
There’s so many, but if I had to select a few that are inspirations to our writing as well as listenability I’d have to go with: Big Wreck, Matthew Good Band, The Dead Minutes, Jessie Brown and Crown Lands along with many more.
