Vancouver’s Parlour Panther Release Highly Anticipated Album, BLOOM
Vancouver indie/rock group Parlour Panther release their highly-anticipated album BLOOM, in addition to a music video for the title track, out now via Rae Spoon’s Coax Records.
Released alongside a music video for “BLOOM”, the band shares:
“We started collecting shots of flowers and nature last summer and then we thought it’d be cool to go back to the same location where we got most of our press photos to shoot the final shots. It was a super windy day, and we went out and filmed ourselves singing and playing the track. The wind ended up adding a cool effect. Frankie edited the video and did some fun overlays and effects with the flower shots. We wanted to emulate the joy of the song as well as the dreamyness of it by doing fun things with edits and dropping flower petals in the wind.”
The band will be commemorating BLOOM at their album release show, taking place in Vancouver at The Birdhouse. See the full list of dates below.
Speaking on the album, Parlour Panther shares:
“BLOOM is about personal growth and queer joy. Frankie and Reidar write lyrics collaboratively and as trans non-binary spouses, they’ve each experienced significant personal growth since their last album which was written during covid-19 lockdowns. The new album includes songs about chosen family, personal growth, self-doubt and self-love and overcoming trauma. It’s ultimately about how when you invest in yourself and love those who love you back, you will start to BLOOM.”
Parlour Panther possess an irresistible allure with their captivating chemistry, leaving a profound impact on listeners through their genuine emotional expression and exceptional vocal and guitar skills. Frankie brings their expertise in recording engineering, production, and popular song arrangements, while Reidar contributes their background as a lyricist and classically trained vocalist and choral singer. They have graced renowned festivals such as the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, and Vancouver Pride Festival, and have had the privilege of sharing the stage with esteemed artists like The Suffers, Royal Canoe, and Y La Bamba.
The enchanting indie rock band is made up of Frankie and Reidar – a trans-non-binary couple who have been creating music together since 2014. Whether it’s just Frankie on vocals, guitar, and drum machine, and Reidar on vocals, synths, and bass, or joined by their collaborators Jen Foster on drums and Saadi D’Hoore on synths and guitar, they never fail to deliver a massive sound.
