On October 3, 2023, the Gussapolooza Music Festival announced their 2023 Award Recipients.
The Rising Sun Award illuminates a path toward a promising future in the music industry. The award recipient for 2023 was Toronto’s The Blues Emergency.
First off, congratulations on being a recipient of an award at Gussapolooza Music Awards 2023. How did you react when you found out?
Thank you. We were absolutely thrilled when we heard the news of our Rising Sun award from the Gussapolooza Music Festival 2023.
How does it feel to be among some amazing talent as an award recipient?
It’s a tremendous honor, and we couldn’t be more excited about this recognition.
The award is a testament to the hard work and dedication that our team has put into our craft. To be in the company of other talented individuals and artists who share our passion is very inspiring. It’s fueled our determination to continue pushing our boundaries and striving for excellence in our creative endeavors.
What was the highlight of Gussapolooza 2023 for you?
So many great highlights for us. The beautiful festival grounds and how well it was organized stood out as soon as we entered. Everyone was very welcoming.
Performance wise, the intimate sets of Russ Robson, Ashley Gilmore, and the rocking set of Big Foot’s Hand were undeniably the performance highlights of Gussapolooza 2023 for us.
The midnight open jam by the firepit was a unique and enjoyable experience, and we’re eagerly looking forward to this tradition continuing in the next year. Camping out with our friends and meeting new people was also very special, adding to the overall sense of camaraderie and adventure that made this festival a truly memorable experience.
If you return next year, what, if anything would you change about your performance?
We’d focus on improving aspects like stage presence, musicality, and connecting with our audience even more effectively. In addition, we have new tunes brewing and we will include those in the set. It’s all about continuous growth and delivering an even more memorable performance in the future.
