Tonight, Ukrainian metalcore band Jinjer shook MTelus to its core!
The evening started with British prog metal band Monuments, who had the already-packed crowd pull all the metal show antics, from the wall of death to an abundance of crowd surfers. Lead singer Andy Cizek commanded the stage and got the audience all hyped up for the main act of the night!
Shortly after 9pm, Jinjer entered the stage to a thunder of applause and a rowdy first few rows! If you’ve never witnessed front woman Tatiana Shmayluk onstage, you’re in for a treat. Not only did she hop around the stage non-stop with overflowing energy, but she also alternated between a delicate singing voice and the deepest death growls that would make many male metal singers jealous! From beginning to end, the band’s set was metal to the max and packing a serious punch, with the audience being equally energetic. The performance was a true metalcore masterclass, a wonderful example of show-stopping female showmanship, and a night Montreal metal fans won’t be forgetting for a long time!
Jinjer will be playing in Toronto tomorrow, and in Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver later this month. For more info and tickets, visit the band’s website!
