Queens & Kings release radio edit of “Earthquake”

Queens & Kings

Queens & Kings release Earthquake (Radio Edit) with drums and guitar played by one person at once!

Following closely on the heels of the release of the full version of the song and the accompanying music video, Queens & Kings has now officially released an alternative, abridged version of the song!

The Toronto-based rock duo consisting of Alissa on drums and Brendan on guitar (with the occasional instrument swap) do things a little differently on this track. Brendan plays both instruments simultaneously which is an approach the band sometimes takes in order to allow Alissa the freedom to go up front and go wild in front of the audience, unencumbered by an instrument. The music video for the song which was filmed in two abandoned locations (one has since been torn down) demonstrates how the song is played. The first location of the video was filmed by Jesse Read of Dropout Entertainment. The band filmed the second location and edited the video themselves.

What is mostly changed about the radio edit of the song is a joint drum solo which is a major part of the live performance and live expression of the song.

As Alissa expands:

“Sometimes, the live and the studio versions of a song don’t necessarily need to be the same thing. Sometimes they translate differently in those different forms and sometimes seeing something isn’t quite the same as just hearing it, so we wanted to offer this alternative version as well which feels just as complete in a studio-recorded format”.

The duo will be celebrating the release at their NXNE showcase at The Bovine Sex Club bar in Toronto on Queen Street on the day of its release, June 16h, 2023. It will be a late-night set at 2 am! Drop by to catch it performed live!
