Augusta shares their debut music video for their single, “Little Birds”

Toronto, ON-based 7-piece band Augusta is led by Joe Dent, August Jones, and Zach Stuckey.

Their debut single, “Little Birds,” was written in its entirety during Ontario’s last lockdown. August and Joe took their recording gear and went to the former’s cottage to write music for the week. After spending five days writing songs that will never be shared, the pair finally struck gold in the final 24 hours. Born from an idea that Joe was ready to throw away, they stayed up all night writing from start to finish the song that perfectly sums up Augusta’s musical identity.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hailing from Toronto, Augusta, is a 7-piece Alternative Rock band, described by CBC’s Errol Nazarteth as “sparking ferocious dance parties wherever they go.” Formed in 2022, Augusta is led by Joe Dent (former band leader of A Fellow Ship), August Jones (Toronto session musician and touring member of The Recklaws, the Pick Brothers band, and more), and Zach Stuckey (Toronto session musician and touring member of Anna Sofia, Dani Doucette, and more).  Their heavy guitar tones, paired with catchy horn lines and vocals, have quickly caught the attention of the Canadian music scene.  Highlighted by their first national headline tour, their high-energy concerts and a wide variety of musical influences provide something for everyone.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

“Little Birds” is the creation of August and Joe when the two of them went up north for a week on a writing retreat.  After producing a number of songs that will never be revisited, Joe suggested a final idea… and “Little Birds” was born. The song was produced/engineered by August Jones, engineered by Paul Phelan at Gold Standard Records, mixed by August Jones, Burbs, and Gabriel Pick, and mastered by Phil DeMetro at Lacquer Channel.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

When writing music, Augusta’s influences change from song to song. As with many songwriters, they often take inspiration from the life around them. Whether it’s heartbreak, love, grief, or a pandemic, you’ll often hear snippets of their personal lives in their music.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

After returning from their fall tour, Augusta has both shows and festivals booked for late 2022 and 2023. Unfortunately, these are all still a secret, but if you stay tuned, you’ll hear about some of them soon.

What’s your goal for 2022?

Their goal for 2022 is to continue releasing songs from their debut album and meet as many new friends and fans as possible!
