Sophie D’Orléans shares her single, “Sans turbulences”

Semi-finalist in the Festival international de la chanson de Granby Hydro-Québec contest, Sophie D’Orléans, has recently unveiled her single, “Sans turbulences.”

Driving guitars, airy synths, and harmonizing vocals complement the song’s message of independence and courage.

In “Sans turbulence,” D’Orléans recognizes the strength of adaptability.

“This song tells the story of when I left for my first solo trip at 19,” D’Orléans says. “I needed to go experience the world in order to come back home with a renewed sense of gratitude and resilience.”

On this trip, D’Orléans bought her first guitar and began playing music.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi, I’m Sophie D’Orléans, a Franco-Ontarian singer-songwriter based in Ottawa. I love to connect with people through music. I write in French and English and accompany myself on piano or guitar. I love to hike, read, write, play board games, and craft.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My latest release is called “Sans turbulence.” It’s a coming-of-age anthem based on my personal experience. It’s a celebration of courage and growing independence.

“Simple and to the point, this track really hits its stride in how emotional its highs can be, especially next to the almost shy-feeling verses.” Owen Maxwell at Ottawa Life Magazine

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Introspection is how I get what I’m feeling down on paper. For ‘Sans turbulences’ it was a podcast that inspired me to revisit how I felt when I left on my own for the first time to go learn Spanish.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

I’ll be performing at “Du Haut Des Airs Canada 2022” during the Festival Coup de Coeur francophone on November 11th in Montreal.

What’s your goal for 2022?

I hope to continue writing lots and collaborating with more artists because music is more fun when shared!
