Love was in the air yesterday, and LOVE LOOKS PRETTY ON YOU was the soundtrack to many cheesy Instagram posts celebrating Valentine’s Day. Lucky for us, we got to hear it live, as Nessa Barrett and her Aftercare tour stopped in Montreal!
The Beanfield Theater was packed to the brim, with fans adorning amazing outfits and bags overflowing with props and fan projects. The balcony, usually reserved for more casual concertgoers who’d rather not stand the whole time, was up on its feet before the show even started!
Shortly after 9pm, Nessa and her band arrived on stage to a thunder of screams. She then broke into S.L.U.T. (read: Sex, Lies, Ugly, Truth), which the audience shouted back at her word for word. The setlist was a mix of songs from her latest album, but also plenty of throwback hits (to the pleasure of OG fans), and a surprising cover of Portishead’s Glory Box (which gives a hint into Nessa’s personal music taste, with Massive Attack’s Paradise Circus also blasting before she hit the stage).
In her short black lace dress, Nessa looked very femme fatale, while her voice sang stories of introspective and emotional love stories, and her interactions with the fans were extremely warm and caring, showing the 22-year old singer can truly do it all!
