Madame Psychosis – MP3 (Album Review)

Band: Madame Psychosis
Album: MP3
Release Date: October 23, 2024
Genre: Indie Rock

Toronto-based indie rock band Madame Psychosis is back with their most ambitious and emotionally charged project to date: MP3, their highly anticipated third studio album.

MP3 showcases the band’s evolution, both musically and personally, following the success of their 2019 album Survivor and their 2016 self-titled debut. It was recorded and mixed by Alex Gamble (Alvvays, Broken Social Scene, Arkells) at Union Sound Company, Raventape Music Room, and Poetic Groove Productions in Toronto.

MP3 delivers a cohesive and dynamic mix of genre-blending tracks.

“Anywhere With You” is a smooth, feel-good anthem that invites listeners on a dreamy road trip through sun-soaked landscapes and intimate moments. The song paints vivid imagery of carefree drives, open highways, and the simple joy of being in the moment with someone special. The chorus, repeating “I’ll go anywhere with you,” captures the essence of love and freedom, creating a sense of ease and adventure that’s both infectious and comforting.

“Lucky” is a catchy, guitar-driven anthem that takes aim at the fake side of modern love. Written by Michelle Mondesir, with music by B. McCaffrey, J. Tharakan, G. Paola, and P. Silvestri, the track mixes clever lyrics with a raw energy that stands out. It explores the idea of “artificial” love, where shallow connections are passed off as something real. Lines like “You’re all about the artificial” and “You can be an NFT / Duplicates for everybody” use smart, modern references to question what true connection really means today.

Overall, Each song on MP3, from the anthemic choruses to the more reflective moments, showcases a band unafraid to tackle both emotional depth and raw energy, creating a cohesive yet diverse sonic experience.
