Molly Annelle shares new single, “Trophy Wife”

Molly Annelle Presents “Trophy Wife” Out Now via 604 Records

Vancouver-based singer, songwriter, and soul cowgirl, Molly Annelle presents her new single “Trophy Wife” – a song for all the lover girls who haven’t lost hope. “Trophy Wife” establishes Molly as a woman in her 20s, firmly grounded in nature, love, and cowboys. The single was co-produced by Parker Bossley (Hot Hot Heat, Gay Nineties) and is available now on all music services via 604 Records.

Speaking on the track Molly says,

“Trophy Wife expresses what I look for in a partner and details my experience of being “too stupid for love”, in other words ‘screwed over’ by previous partners.”

Since the age of 5, Molly knew her home was on stage or behind the piano penning songs and poems that would make grown-up dinner guests cry. At the tender age of 9, Molly won the Young Composer of the Year award, beating out university students who competed for the same title, by composing a four-part harmony piece for the Vancouver Chamber Choir. From there, Molly found a passion for music production and released her first self-produced EP Pick Me Ups (2018)  in, and shortly after was signed to 604 Records. Her first album Elevator Music is a diary of stories from high school set to the tune of indie pop, R&B, and bossa nova influence.

After graduating high school and moving to Toronto, Molly released her second self-produced mixtape Homebody– a realization that her home was not in the big city, but back by the ocean and mountains of British Columbia.  Molly moved back home and got to work on writing as many songs as possible along with her musical partner Max Cunningham- including today’s release “Trophy Wife”.
