Nelson Sobral Releases Rocking New Single “Hang On” from Upcoming LP
Nelson Sobral is a singer-songwriter and guitarist hailing from Toronto, equally inspired by the vast, wide open spaces of the country he calls home and the labyrinthine maze of the city in which he resides. His music is as much Americana and blues as it is soul and rock ‘n’ roll, perfectly balanced with the energy and sound of each of his respective influences, uniting them all with one, singular mission: to move and energize audiences into an all-night frenzy and travel the world on the might of his song.
His gritty new single, “Hang On,” is delta blues shot up with electric rock and roll. This is the third taste of his upcoming full-length album, the follow-up to 2022’s Second Arrow.
““Hang On” has soulful vocals and bluesy guitar riffs, delivering an anthem of liberation, urging listeners to break free from the past. It’s a reflection of letting go of people and situations that no longer serve you.“
First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Nelson Sobral! Born & raised in Toronto!
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My latest single is called “Hang On” and it’s the 3rd single from my forthcoming 3rd LP.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
There are no hard and fast rules or routines regarding songwriting for me, I just stay at the ready for whenever inspiration hits. Sitting around and just messing about on the guitar is a good way to come up with little riffs and ideas which is how this song came about.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
For this particular single I’ve got a live-off-the-floor video that will be coming out and a handful of shows. One of the shows in particular is in a field of Sunflowers! www.thesunflowerfarm.ca on Sat.August.10th
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
There is a lot but at the risk of sounding cliche…here and now with the latest song i just wrote yesterday.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Off the top of my head, there are 3 that start with the letter “M”! MountainHead, The Manic Boys & Girls Club, and Mattie Leon!
