On June 15, beloved Canadian indie rock band Mother Mother & England’s Cavetown brought their co-headlining summer tour to Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC.

Meet Me @ the Altar started the evening and energized the early crowd with a six-song set, including fan favourites “Now or Never” and “Kool.” I’ve been wanting to see this band for a while and it was such a great set!

Robbie Skinner, aka Cavetown, then took the stage, transformed into a fairytale forest for the occasion, with giant mushrooms and an inflatable tree trunk. Dressed in embroidered overalls matching his band, he captivated the crowd with songs from his discography, like “Home,” with the audience singing along passionately. Cavetown’s soft vocals and guitar skills resonated powerfully in the arena. His set ended with a sing-along to “Juliet” before the encore of “Devil Town.”

Following him, Mother Mother mesmerized their hometown audience with a fog-filled, spooky-lit performance, opening with “Nobody Escapes”, “Arms Tonite” and “Hayloft II.” They made the most of their full set, switching between blue and red lights and playing hits like “Oleander” and “Back to Life,” concluding with a reprise of “Hayloft” and “Burning Pile.”

Fans of both Mother Mother and Cavetown left the venue already sharing memories of their new favourite artists from the night. Both bands will be on tour across North America until mid-July with a stop in Toronto on July 5th.
