Alanna Sterling shares new album, Everything’s Gonna Be Just Fine

Canadian Singer, Songwriter & Streaming Sensation Alanna Sterling Releases Everything’s Gonna Be Just Fine

Ottawa-based non-binary singer, songwriter, and pianist, Alanna Sterling, shares their stunning new album, Everything’s Gonna Be Just Fine, via Indica Records. Reminiscent of greats like Adele and Amy Winehouse, the gorgeous new LP finds Alanna’s jaw-dropping vocals recorded and mixed live-of-the-floor by the award-winning Pierre Marchand, longtime producer and collaborator of Sarah McLachlan.

In September 2023 Alanna met with award-winning producer Pierre Marchand to discuss recording some new songs. After Alanna sat down at the piano and started playing, Marchand immediately knew how special they were and started setting up his mics, asking, “Wanna record?”

Speaking on the experience, Alanna shares,

“I walked in with anticipation, like is this gonna be my big break, meeting this famous producer and all. I saw the piano glowing under the spotlight, and everything else faded to black. ‘Can I touch it?’ I asked, ‘That’s kind of the point,’ he replied.”

Alanna played their entire album uninterrupted. Captured thanks to Pierre’s foresight, Everything’s Gonna Be Just Fine is now being released just as it was recorded; a unique moment in time, live-off-the-floor.

Celebrating the release, Alanna will be performing in Paris tonight at the launch party of ‘The Seine Canada Festival’. The performance comes ahead of Alanna’s residency at the festival, from July 28 to September 11.

The Seine Canada Festival, coinciding with the 2024 Paris Olympics, is an multidisciplinary showcase celebrating contemporary Canadian culture. Featuring emerging art, gastronomy, music, and fashion, the festival will occur at the famous Seine River floating art center, ‘Fluctuart’. Find More info on the festival HERE.

The album arrives accompanied by a captivating new video for the title track “Everything’s Gonna Be Just Fine”. Speaking on the video’s inspiration,

Director Yang Shi explains;

“It’s a hopeful song that reassures us, much like a friend, that despite life’s challenges, everything will eventually turn out just fine. The song acts as a soothing balm, offering solace and encouragement when it’s needed most. In the video, it’s like a friend helping another friend to walk again.”

Songwriting came naturally, and since the age of 12, Alanna has composed hundreds of songs, most of which are still unpublished.

“I write music to help work through life’s adversities and inspire others to overcome their own battles,” they shared.

Sterling’s journey to music came early in life as a way to cope with trauma and mental health issues growing up. Their melodic originality and lyrical depth put Alanna in a world class of their own. Their ability to convey deep powerful emotions and their message of healing are beacons of hope for a world that is suffering.

“Someone like this in the music world doesn’t come along very often. This is someone completely unique and super talented and really special, but that also works hard. Every time I play some of Alanna’s songs to anyone, they stop dead in their tracks,” says JUNO-winning producer Jace Lasek after producing two new songs with Alanna this spring.
