NARCOTIC WASTELAND IS SET TO PLAY DECIMATE METALFEST
Narcotic Wasteland is a North Carolina-based death metal band founded by lead guitarist and vocalist Dallas Toler-Wade, following his nearly nineteen-year tenure with Nile. The band’s music delves into the emotional issues plaguing today’s society, such as drug and alcohol abuse.
The band has released two albums, Narcotic Wasteland and Delirium Tremens, and most recently a new single, “Sex, Lies, and DNA.”
Narcotic Wasteland is set to play Decimate Metalfest in June, so don’t miss that!
First off, care to introduce yourselves to our readers?
D.T.W: My name is Dallas Toler-Wade and I play guitar and sing for the band Narcotic Wasteland.
Tell us a bit about your latest release.
D.T.W: Our latest release is called Sex, Lies, and DNA. It’s a monster of a song. It is a prime example of my growing obsession with true crime. A new single plus a new album is coming very soon!
How did you react when you heard you were chosen to play Decimate Metalfest?
D.T.W: I was very excited to get the news from our booking agent!! I feel very lucky to have the health and opportunity to travel and play my music.
As a band, how important is it for you to perform at festivals like Decimate, where diversity and inclusion are celebrated, including featuring youth bands?
D.T.W I think it is very important!!!! I hope the fest continues for many many years and grows into something massive!!!
Have you had the chance to check out the lineup for Decimate Metalfest, and if so, are there any bands you’re particularly excited to see perform?
D.T.W: I have not had time to check the lineup out yet I have been so darn busy getting ready for the tour. BUT I intend to check out as much of the festival as possible.
How does your band approach crafting a setlist for a festival like Decimate Metalfest, considering the range of bands and genres represented in the lineup?
D.T.W: We will pretty much play our touring setlist since we are going to be on the road playing shows for a little over 6 weeks.
Last but not least, what advice do you have for metal bands just starting out?
D.T.W: Never give up!!! Even if you cannot devote all of your time to it. Just keep chipping away at it and something will happen.
