RENZITA shares new single, “Bad Bad You” (Interview)

RENZITA’s Explosive Debut Single ‘Bad Bad You’ Strikes a Chord with Rock Fans Worldwide

When bad love hurts you, it can really sting. The betrayal can cut deep and sometimes you feel the need to shame them for what they did. The Canadian /U.S. collaboration RENITA ZINTEL from Lethbridge, AB, and RANDY LODDER of El Paso, Texas knows this personally but uses rock n’ roll to heal their wounds in their new single “Bad Bad You.”

Recently nominated in the U.S. for a HUGS 24/7 Radio Award, opening with some explosive guitar riffs, the song kicks into high gear with smoky, angry vocals from vocalist RENITA. Reminiscent of Joan Jett and a sprinkle of Janis Joplin, RENITA’s passionate delivery of the song’s lyrics is captivating.

RENZITA is inspired by a melting pot of genres: Metal, Hard Rock, Classical, and Jazz. After meeting in February 2023, they formed RENZITA and virtually completed their first album My Sick Addiction.

RENITA has a diverse background in music, writing songs and singing both original and cover tunes in bands of many genres. Her lifelong passion is creating music.  She has released several solo albums in the blues and rock genre that have been played on College and Indie Radio, and EP and Album with the hard rock band Fate Will Come, in 2021. She is the primary lyricist and vocalist for RENZITA.

Through the years, RANDY worked his way through many bands and genres of music as a lead guitarist. He was creating, writing, and playing in original Seattle Hard Rock bands: Dagger, Project Gunhead, Distant Thunder, and Balance. He was also one of the first ones in the Seattle music scene to use 7 string guitars.

After moving to El Paso, TX he teamed up with an Austin TX country music veteran George Ransom, and formed the Hard Rock/Country original band Ransom. Over the years, he has written and recorded multi-genre original songs and instrumentals, enough to produce a couple of albums.

“Bad Bad You” is the first single off RENZITA’s debut album My Sick Addiction, which was released in March 2024. It has been added to over 90 radio stations around the world and is considered a “Hot New Entry” at Galaxy FM with over 5000 requests.

My Sick Addiction has been nominated for the 2024 US ISSA Songwriter Awards as well as Holland’s 2024 International Red Carpet Album Awards. A second album from RENZITA is currently in the works.

Hi Renita, care to introduce yourself?

I am a female singer /songwriter living in Lethbridge AB. who has been writing songs and singing with multiple genres of bands, blues, country, original, alternative, cover and rock, and hard rock bands all my life in bands in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.. putting my  brain and fingers to the grindstone writing songs every day. I have had my Blues songs  under the name Renita Nadrowski  played on college radio in Canada along with the single – The Cost from the album” Fate Will Come.”

My background in all these genres allows me to blend styles that make up our RENZITA sound.  I play guitar, dabble with a bass, and play a little bit of keyboard as I took piano as a child.

My acceleration in songwriting that morphed me was an online collaboration I formed with a U.S guitarist in 2019, through a musical website called Drooble.

I met Matt Kirschner ( Pine Box Studios)  there, He had tons of music without lyrics. I was asked if I would like to write lyrics and sing, let’s just say we went crazy. We formed an online band Fate Will Come and with the help of other musicians from the US  and with the power of the internet, we wrote over 100 songs and released an EP  Heavy Heart in 2020  and an Album  Fate Will Come in 2022.

My new band RENZITA  was formed when Randy Lodder from EL Paso Texas emailed me in Feb 2023 and asked me if I would be interested in helping him on a track he had written.  I said sure I was up to the challenge!

( I had sung vocals for a musician in the UK  and Randy had played lead guitar on the track) .. fast forward after we finished his song  “Kill Another Piece Of Me”  we knew we had to write an album together so we formed RENZITA, the name is based on  Ranz his nickname, and part of my name Renita.

We released the album ‘My Sick Addiction” on March 1st this year, where  you can find the song “Bad Bad You”  that has been the Hot New Entry of The Week Twice on Galaxy FM 107 NZ  ( Based On Listener Requests},

We have been working every day since we started in Feb, writing songs.

We have already completed 12 songs for our next album “Dimensional Destiny.” with 10 more songs i am working on now, we never stop!

Tell us about the process of recording “Bad Bad You”?

It just hit me when I heard that beautiful nasty guitar at the beginning !,  I  had an immediate feeling for the lyrics….. Sounded like bad love to me !!!  ,

I grabbed pen and paper and wrote a rough idea, then turned on the mic and sang to get a feel for the melody. After I had a rough track for vocals  I emailed Randy to see what he thought and he loved it, so I refined the lyrics and added to the track.

The lyric writing process for a song usually takes me 3 days, sometimes longer. We email files back and forth lol and talk on Messenger every day.

My job was to write the lyrics and convey the feeling of the song with my vocals, Randy and I collaborated on the enhancements and arrangement of the vocals.

The track was mixed and remixed and extra backup tracks were added to the song.

and changed and remixed prob 20 or more times., it took us 10 months to get a final mix we were happy with.

Who was the first and most recent Canadian artist to blow you away?

My favorite Canadian band hands down is Rush! they are one of a kind  that makes me proud to be a Canadian)

They have a very unique sound and stay true to themselves and who they are in the music industry.

I wish I had seen them live in concert but I never did. I am reading  “My Effin Life” by Geddy Lee, I have not finished it yet because I am too busy working on music but I will!

The most recent Canadian artist to blow me away. That’s a tough one because I only listen to indie music.

I will give a shout-out to a band where I live in Alberta   They are called Osyren, I have seen them live and really like their stage show!

What’s an album that you have in your collection that would surprise people?

I like harder rock and metal but I find most of it has a clone sound, the great bands have a distinctive sound, Lucuna Coil,  Rob Halford,   Halestorm,  Foo Fighters, and Rush are all distinctive that’s all I’m gonna say I don’t listen to clone bands.  I love Rob Halford Resurrection Album, it’s my favorite!

What are your plans for Spring and Summer?

To keep on writing songs, I do what I am doing now and get RENZITA music to people through radio and the internet, and social media.

Since Randy is in the US we want to start a livestream of RENZITA, T.B.A.

I will just go to local places where I live and play the mellow Renzita stuff live lol

RENZITA  has been nominated by a radio station in the US for an award for excellence in song writing and we have been invited to the awards on Oct 1st in Pennsylvania
