Xana unveils “Homewrecking Era,” the sultry second single from her eagerly awaited sophomore album, The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t, out May 10th.
Immersing the listener in an irresistible world of dark pop-rock decadence, “Homewrecking Era” tells the tale of shamelessly indulging in an addictive and destructive relationship, grappling with conflicting emotions but ultimately succumbing to desire. Xana boldly embraces the villainous role of the “other woman” without a hint of remorse. Like a taunting confession whispered in the dark, her vocals and lyricism describe the forbidden pleasures of this toxic love affair, becoming the magnetic force that keeps two souls entwined, despite the impending chaos. The anti-pop-rock soundscape provides the perfect backdrop for this seductive odyssey, with gritty guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and a rebellious energy that mirrors the defiance in Xana’s moral compass.
Having garnered legions of fans from her earworm track “Goddess”— and her debut Tantrums— The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t finds the Vancouver-based pop powerhouse looking directly into the darkness and seeing a flicker of light on the other side. For Xana, the hurt she details on the album reflects a necessary truth she needed to see in order to heal.
“You can’t hurt me any more than you have already,” she says.
On the making of The Sex Was Good UntiI It Wasn’t Xana says,
“When I started writing this album, I was in therapy doing a lot of looking at my life, my relationships, my patterns, and the things I’m afraid of and the things that still bother me. I needed that time in order to change and heal. When people listen to this album, I want them to understand that facing the things that have happened to you—and allowing yourself the space to really move through them and accept the multiple truths of who you are—is such a beautiful process. It can be so good for your soul.”
The Sex Was Good Until It Wasn’t is out May 10th.
