Silvertone Hills Shares Debut LP, Limits
Hamilton, ON-based five-piece indie-rock band, Silvertone Hills unveiled their debut full-length album, Limits in late 2023, with a deluxe edition released in January 2024.
The LP showcases the band’s influences proudly, from snarling ’90s British melodies to ’60s wall-of-sound ballads, stopping along the way for psychedelic detours.
Compiled from nearly 40 songs, producer Zach Gerber (Walk off the Earth, USS) ensured the cuts are lean, with a format that gets you to the chorus quickly, and hitting replay even quicker.
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We’re Silvertone Hills from Hamilton. We write catchy rock n’ roll inspired by The Beatles, Oasis, Tom Petty, and other classics.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
The full version of our debut album “Limits” came out on January 20th. It’s a culmination of our best work, picked from 40 songs written over lockdown. We wore our influences proudly, covering moody ballads, dreamy psychedelia, and flat-out rockers. There’s something for every rock fan to get stuck in their head.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
I (Andrew, guitarist) usually come up with a chord progression and melody and flush out a demo at home. If I’m feeling a particular lyric I’ll write it, but I’ll lean on Liam (singer) to fill in any bits. The song always evolves and takes shape once everyone’s gotten their hands on it, so I’m never married to the sound/arrangement of the demo. Interesting bits like the “Space & Time” bridge with the Bowie-esque chanting or “Nobody Else” intimate quiet break wouldn’t have come about if I didn’t let the other band members run with it.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
We’re playing a few shows in the spring, will be releasing a very special Beatles cover, and aim to hit some festivals in the fall.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
Having our latest album cemented in a physical vinyl is something we’re all super proud of. We all grew up with physical record collections and now we can say we’re part of that.
Being featured on Spotify’s “Ready to Rock” playlist among the Stones and Beatles’ new releases is amazing, what a time to be alive!
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Lost Faculty brings a killer 2000s indie vibe that’s been missing since old Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes.
Lucky Honey is new on the scene and will quickly get people dancing like The Killers.
Doomsday Darling writes some of the funnest pop rock I’ve heard in a while.
