Serpents Unveil Their New Single, “The Void”
Meet Serpents, the Polish powerhouse blending modern/post-metalcore with electronica. Since their debut on the scene in Szczecin, Poland, in late 2023, this quintet has quickly carved a niche with a genre-defying sound. Drawing inspiration from Nine Inch Nails, Spiritbox, and Northlane, Serpents creates a high-powered musical landscape.
Their three 2023 singles – “Tangled,” “Self-made Suffering,” and “Hourglass” –Mysterious, rhythmically intricate synthesizers weave and wind, creating a labyrinth of restrained feelings that steadily crescendo into an eruption of raw intensity and unbridled emotion, leaving listeners breathless and in awe.
Now, they’ve unveiled the brand new single, “The Void.”
First off care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! We’re Serpents. We’re a band from Szczecin, Poland. Our country is known for extreme metal acts such as Behemoth and Decapitated, but we play a genre that is not so popular here – Modern Metalcore. As such we try to merge rock and metal with electronica elements.
Tell us a bit about your recent release.
The Void is the mellowest tune we have written so far. It’s got this lengthy electronica part, but then it kicks into high gear with guitars and drums coming in. Lyrically it’s about dealing with our mortality.
How do you typically go about the songwriting process? Do you have a specific method or creative routine that you follow?
We’re very technology-driven. We try to approach songwriting like an electronic music producer – the song is laid out and recorded inside the computer in a DAW, produced, mixed, and mastered. The writing itself might start from a guitar riff, a chord progression, or a synth part. Then we build on top of it vertically adding production, and horizontally adding more parts and making sure the song has a good flow.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for supporting this new release? Are there any upcoming tours, music videos, or additional content that fans can look forward to in connection with this project?
Yes! We are embarking on a European tour with the mighty Ektomorf – between 19th of March and the 6th of April.
Also, we are releasing a lyric video for The Void on the 9th of February. It was produced by the incredibly talented Anna Pomierczyk-Wiechnik of rock-it.tv.
Looking back on your musical career, is there a particular moment or accomplishment that you consider a turning point or a highlight?
Well, we started our career with a bang – a 16-date tour across Poland with our friends from The Materia. It was a great experience to share our music with metalcore fans across the country.
Last but not least, it’s time to pay it forward, what upcoming band or artist would you recommend your fans check out?
Definitely The Materia – amazing people and musicians. Check out their latest album “Darklander”, a great progressive metal album. They’ve been friends for years now, and we try to support each other.
