Toronto’s Benja Presents New Single, “Bloom” via Good People Record Co.
Toronto-based guitarist Benja has teamed up with like-minded producer and artist, Glitter Party, to create the infectiously melancholic new single, “Bloom”. Out today via Good People Record Co, “Bloom” follows Benja’s critically acclaimed 2023 debut EP Ivy.
Set to a backdrop of dreamy guitar and lo-fi drums, “Bloom” is about those early days of young love and dreaming of building a life together.
“I like to think of people in my life as gardens,” explains Benja. “Maybe one way to love someone is to ask if they need any help tending to their garden. Feeling happy just to see it when you walk by. if you love someone, let them bloom! That sounds like a real peaceful kind of love. That’s what this song is about.
I made it with my friend, glitter party in a studio in his attic. We used tape machines and played everything live. No fancy studios, simply homegrown”
A prismatic tour, a lo-fi mist, an open experiment: Benja blends bedroom-infused indie-pop with the soulful production of R&B. Like the best of eclectic visions, he pulls from a variety of sourcebooks.
Benja’s dexterity takes many forms: he’s backed up Bad Bad Not Good, Jonah Yano, and Odd Future’s Hodgy and produced the forthcoming K’naan album. With more new music in the works, the guitarist and up-and-coming producer is operating on a number of magnetic frequencies.
