Steven Lee Olsen closes out 2023 with the release of his emotional single and video for “Happy Heavenly”
On December 1, GRAMMY-nominated country artist Steven Lee Olsen unveiled his new single “Happy Heavenly” via Starseed Records. This poignant tune is a heartfelt tribute to a departed friend, weaving a narrative of celebrating a life well-lived and the enduring impact of friendship.
Written by Olsen and long-time friend Jimmy Robbins (Blake Shelton, Keith Urban), “Happy Heavenly” masterfully navigates the delicate balance between sorrow and celebration, creating a musical canvas that captures the essence of cherishing memories. The song not only pays homage to the departed but also serves as a universal anthem for those looking to find the light in their grief and turn a lost one’s birthday into a day of celebration for the life they lived.
Olsen shares,
“This is the most important song I’ve ever put out. I lost someone very close to me during the holidays a few years ago and I really struggled to move through my grief. So, one year, on his birthday, I sat down and wrote this with the goal of turning all the tears into smiles. It’s a cheers to my friend, like the ones we shared while we sat on the dock catching fish, which is exactly what I know he’s doing up there today.”
He goes on to say after he shared his demo on TikTok it became instantly apparent the world was searching for a song like “Happy Heavenly,” with thousands sharing their own tributes to lost loved ones using it.
“It can be hard to watch because it shines a spotlight on ‘pain. But when you look closer it’s actually about healing and turning the sadness into a celebration – looking up at the sky and saying I love you and I hope you’re having a great day up there. That’s exactly why I knew we had to put this song out.”
