Presented by SiriusXM, the offbeat alternative music festival of Quebec City, Le Phoque OFF, is unveiling the first batch of artists that will perform during its festival segment. From February 9 to 17, 2024, this event celebrating its tenth edition, will span nine nights and showcase over a hundred artists, predominantly from Quebec, but also from neighbouring territories and even some international acts.
As always, Le Phoque OFF excels at diversifying its independent music lineup, ranging from experimental ambient to pop disco and punk-rock. The musical waves brought to life by the festival’s artists will captivate the ears of the general public! Headlining the event, Le Phoque OFF welcomes the Montreal-based band TEKE::TEKE, known for their Japanese art-rock influences reminiscent of the psychedelic era of the 1960s-70s, along with one of Quebec’s biggest punk-rock acts, GET THE SHOT. They will shake the floor of the Anti Bar & Spectacles alongside the Mexican metal band Los Viejos!
February 9th will mark the first night of Le Phoque OFF’s 10th edition programming with the disco-funk duo Kinkead and their “Une nuit au ballon rouge” night. In addition to playing the greatest dance hits from their debut album, the duo will present new festive songs and some surprises with their guests. It will be a unique opportunity to relive the best parties of yesteryear!
On Saturday, February 10th, Étienne Dufresne, winner of the Félix-Leclerc Award and the Lucien Revelation of the Year at the GAMIQ Awards, 2022, will take the stage at Pantoum to present their new folk-pop album, produced by Alexandre Martel, set to be released in January 2024. Folk-pop artist Jeanne Côté, winner of the 2023 Francouvertes, will open for him. The psych-rock band Solipsisme will also be on hand to present their latest album, offering a sensory and dreamlike journey to the already enchanted audience! Finally, the multi-experimental artists Ce qui nous traverse and Ulysse Ruel Orchestra will blissfully close out the 10th anniversary of Le Phoque OFF on Saturday, February 17th.
Since the essence of Le Phoque OFF is rooted in hard rock music, the Metal Series naturally forms an integral part of the event’s DNA. That’s why the concept offers low-priced shows reminiscent of the good old days! Join us at the Scanner to mosh with bands like Conflit Majeur, No Waves, Kapitur, Easy Pain, Radiology, Crachat, Jetsam, and Souphl.
To add to the excitement of its tenth year, SiriusXM and NSPW present Le Phoque OFF Wrestling Gala. The band Chou will be the house band for this new addition to the lineup and will raise the sweat levels at Centre Horizon on February 15th.
Of course, Le Phoque OFF proudly retains its reputation as a night owl and continues to host the famous After-parties at La Cuisine. Several DJs, still secret, will make you boogie-woogie until the potential early morning hours!
