POSTDATA Embraces Freedom With New Single “Run Wild” From Upcoming Album, Run Wild, Out September 22 via Paper Bag Records
POSTDATA — the solo music project of Wintersleep lead singer and songwriter, Paul Murphy — recently announced the forthcoming arrival of a brand new LP entitled Run Wild, due September 22 via Paper Bag Records.
Murphy’s latest and third single off of the album is the cheerful title track, “Run Wild,” which follows the arrival of previous LP singles “Mine The Sea” and “Try.” The buoyant and hopeful acoustic pop melodies of “Run Wild” tell the story of Murphy learning how to live for himself and explore personal freedoms beyond pleasing others. “No one gets to pull that crown off of your head, It was never meant for anyone but you to wear, so let your dreams run wild,” Murphy advises us.
Discussing the track, Murphy says:
“I’m someone who really tries to help and please people around me as much as I can. I think there’s alot to be learned from that. And it’s just important. But if it becomes this default position it can come at a cost… maybe there’s space to not be that person all the time… maybe its okay to sometimes allow yourself the freedom to make space for yourself and live in that. I think Behind You from he last record sort of starts the thought and this expands on it somewhat…”
Run Wild, from its encouraging, bright-eyed title, right through Murphy’s lyrics and prose, brings vibrations of self-discovery and growth. “At its best, songwriting is a place where you can feel yourself transitioning to new heights and lows.”
