Alli Walker Shows Off Her East Coast Roots With Celtic Infused Single “The Whiskey’s Gone”
On August 25, Alli Walker showed the world the extent of her East Coast roots with her Celtic-infused single “The Whiskey’s Gone.” Teasing the song on social media ahead of the release, fans are already enamoured with the tune which has amassed over 6.5 million views across socials. Walker’s innate ability to use social media to promote her music has made her the third-most followed Canadian country artist on TikTok (after Shania Twain).
“The Whiskey’s Gone” is the classic drinking song with a twist, as Walker can be heard playing the bagpipes herself throughout the track. It’s the ultimate mash-up of country and Celtic music that will have listeners wanting the party to last all night long. The track is written by Walker, Jessica Cayne (Willie Shaw, Robyn Ottolini), and Kyle Kelso (Tyler James Bellinger, Aloe Blacc, ROZES, Kygo) and produced by GRAMMY-Award winner Dave Cohen (Reba McEntire, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood). It’s also the first track of Walker’s next album.
Walker shares,
“This song couldn’t be any more authentic to who I am and where I grew up. Since the release of my sophomore album Growing Up, I’ve been able to experiment more creatively in the studio. I’ve always wanted to combine my east coast flair with the traditional country lyrics and I’m thrilled that this song is already resonating with so many listeners around the world on TikTok.”
She further explains,
“I brought up in a writing session in Nashville that I grew up playing the bagpipes on the East Coast and my co-writers jumped on the chance with me to explore writing a sea shanty-inspired country song.”
Keeping true to the East Coast sound, Walker asked local PEI artists to play on the track including Tim Chaisson (fiddle) and Nick Vano (tin whistle).
